What is an encoder error?

Christina (Beatport) -

An encoder error occurs when there is a problem converting the master audio file(s) into the product we offer for sale on Beatport. Content Operations will e-mail you when this occurs and ask you to resend the file(s). The most frequent use of an encoder error is submitting a file we are unable to process. We are only able to process 44.1 Khz/16-Bit WAVs. Other types of compressed audio (MP3/MP4/FLAC/AIFF) or audio with a higher bit-rate or sample frequency files (48 kHz/24-Bit) must be converted.
